Would you miss a chance of standing with one foot in Europe and the other in Asia? Today dozens of obelisks mark the Europe-Asia border line along the crest of the Ural mountains. However the first one was built 33 km west of Ekaterinburg at the foot of mount Berezovaya (“Birch tree hill”). In 2008 it was replaced by a grandiose stella of red marble 30 m tall. The original elegant stella was relocated to the side of the New Moscow track. Visiting the EA border doesn’t take long and can be included into another tour (for example, a hike in the natural park of the Wild Deer Streams). It is a nice spot for a picture though!
There are a few ways you can get to this popular site: the EA border can be easily reached by car. So if you are up to do it yourself — try hitchhiking! Take the road going to Moscow (“Moskovskiy track”). On Friday or Saturday you may by good chance be welcomed by cheerful Russians celebrating their wedding day
